Happy New Year!

Like many people I’m fairly glad to see the back of 2017, but given the MAYhem that has been unleashed on us in the UK – I’m trepidatious about 2018.

But heigh-ho – onwards and upwards. I hope that 2018 will be a good one for us all, so Happy New Year to anyone who drops in on me at Pining.

Every year there’s a torchlight procession down Edinburgh’s Royal Mile on the 30th of December. I think we might take part in it next year – I’m told it’s good fun.

  1. The procession looks like fun – if it’s not too cold! It was well below freezing in the northeast of the US last night, but some people went out to see fireworks and celebrate. We stayed indoors, watching on TV in our warm house!
Here’s to a happy, healthy 2018, full of books, time to read them, and wonderful adventures!

    • Joan,
Thanks for the good wishes for 2018!
I think it wasn’t too cold and luckily not too windy either. We stayed at home on our own too, watching TV, we must be getting old!

  2. Stirring sights and sounds there!
I hope 2018 is a happy and successful year for you and yours – and thanks so much for your enjoyable blog.
Best wishes from across the miles.

    • Valerie,
I saw the NZ fireworks on TV, the first of course. I hope that you all have a good 2018 too, at least you won’t have all this Brexit stuff going on in NZ.

  3. Happy new year! I’m retiring the end of Feb, and may get to read more than a book or 2 a year for a change! Of course, I’m years behind in my other hobbies, too, so we’ll see how long it takes me to sort my priorities!

As for May…at least she’s not trying to tweet us into WWIII!

    • Carolyn,
Yes your leader is definitely worse than ours, I’m just trying to tune him out completely!
I hope you have a long and enjoyable retirement, I thought you had retired at the end of the year. You’ll probably wonder how you had the time to work soon! Have fun!
