Number 2 came up in the 31st Classics Club Spin. That means that by October the 31st I have to read and review The Sinful Priest by Emile Zola. I’m really happy about that, I love Zola’s writing but it’s ages since I’ve read any. If you’re taking part – what did you get in the Spin?
I also got a Zola novel in the Spin – The Fortune of the Rougons. It’s been a long time since I’ve read any of his books as well, so I’m looking forward to it. I haven’t read The Sinful Priest – I hope it’s a good one!
Helen,
I thought I had read that one but I haven’t, I’ve read eight of his books and have liked them all although obviously some more than others. I hope you enjoy yours. I’ll have to search the house for The Sinful Priest as it isn’t with the other Zolas! It could be some time before I find it.
I got Sense and Sensibility. Not a bad result at all, and I know I will enjoy it, but it is not the short book I wanted.
tracybham,
It’s very readable though so I don’t think it will take you that long to get through it.
I’ve not heard of this one. I don’t think it’s part of his Rougon-Marquet series which I am slowly reading..
I ended up with a George Eliot novella in the spin –
Bookertalk,
You did well, I’ve enjoyed what I’ve read by her and a novella sounds ideal with so many books to read.
