The 1929 Club

1929 club

The 1929 Club has just begun, it’s hosted by Kaggsy’s Bookish Ramblings and Simon at Stuck in a Book. So far I’ve only finished reading Goodbye to All That by Robert Graves, it’s a great read which I’ll review soon.

Meanwhile here are a few published in 1929 that I’ve read and blogged about previously.

The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett

Evelyn Finds Herself by Josephine Elder

The Dark Mile by D.K. Broster

Hitty Her First Hundred Years by Rachel Field

The Last September by Elizabeth Bowen

The Poisoned Chocolates Case by Anthony Berkeley

Expiation by Elizabeth von Arnim

David Golder by Irene Nemirovsky

The Man in the Queue by Josephine Tey

Daughter of Earth by Agnes Smedley

At the moment I’m reading Berlin Alexanderplatz by Alfred Doblin.

Are you taking part in the #1929 Club?

  1. I am reading The Poisoned Chocolate Case now! Also coping with a refrigerator they say is too large to get through the door of my kitchen!

  2. I wanted to but work reading takes precedence these days. I do look forward to seeing what everyone else reads, though.

    • Anbolyn,
It’s lovely to hear from you, I hope you’re doing well. It’s natural that work reading comes first I suppose, but I hope those books end up being good reads!

      • Doing well, thanks! It has just been a weird year for me all around. I hope to get back to blogging soon, though!

    • Whispering Gums,
I’ll be over to have a look, but for some reason I’m not able to get any comments on your blog now, or even my wee photo icon. I’m having the same trouble now with quite a few of my favourite bloggers, I’ll have to try to sort it out.
PS. I’ve just reserved the Frederic Manning book at the library, thanks for writing about it.
