Donovan

Posted on 9 February 2011 by Katrina

It’s time for a wee musical interlude and as Donovan was given a lifetime achievement award in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards earlier in the week, I thought it would be nice to hear my favourite song of his, Jennifer Juniper, a lovely tune.

Donovan was born in Glasgow.

St. Stephen’s Day

Posted on 26 December 2010 by Katrina

As this is the feast of Stephen I thought it would be nice to have a video of the carol Good King Wenceslas. There are loads of versions which have been sung by church choirs but I like this one by The Irish Rovers.

I hope you enjoy it too. I’ve always liked the name Stephen.

Pencil Full of Lead by Paolo Nutini

Patrick Kielty played this song on Radio 2 this morning and it never fails to make me smile. It’s so jaunty. Have a listen!

And yes, he is Scottish despite the name, he comes from Paisley.

I live in the east of Scotland, not from choice. After 30 years here it still doesn't feel like home. Hence the name of my blog. West is still best as far as I am concerned. I used to work in libraries, I'm now retired. I have two grown up 'boys'. I'm interested in books, films, art, crafts, cooking, politics, museums and travelling around Britain.
