Why is it that the Conservatives only ever have one thought in mind when they get into power? And why is it that the voters of England don’t remember the horrendous damage that the Tories inflicted on us the last time.
These savage cuts will have no effect whatsoever on the fat cats who caused all the mayhem and as usual it’s the small people who will hurt more than anybody.
What did Tory voters think was going to happen when they gave power to a bunch of old Etonian millionaires? And that includes the Lib-Dems too. Sorry Nick, was it Westminster School?
I thought that we had it bad when we were young. We bought our first house just before Maggie Thatcher got into power and by the time the house was finished and we had moved in a few months later, the mortgage interest rate had shot up, which doubled our monthly mortgage payments.
But the youngsters nowadays can’t even dream of buying a house. They are drowning in their student debt and most of them can’t get a job after university. Unfortunately it is still a society where it isn’t what you know, but who you know which is important. And we can’t all have contacts at Buckingham Palace like Cameron had when he was looking for a job after he graduated. I feel heart sore for young people nowadays, their future seems so miserable at the moment.
So, all these cuts are going to mean loads more unemployed people and there are places in Scotland, such as Fife, which still hadn’t recovered from the last recession.
I’ve always avoided the ‘big dipper’ because I don’t have the stomach for that sort of thing, but it looks like there’s another BIG DIP coming. So hold on to your hats folks!
Sorry about all the cuts. I’ve been hearing about them in the news over hear. Yikes! We have an election here in two weeks and the Republicans and possibly a few crazy tea party people will find themselves in the majority in congress and I fear we will be looking at similar cuts here. Now, how can I somehow turn myself into a big business before then so I can get all the tax breaks and benefits?
Stefanie,
I know that President Obama has complained about all the cuts, as have European leaders but the Conservatives only ever have one idea which is : Take from the poor and the sick. What they are doing to students is truly shameful considering that every one of the M.P.s got their education completely free.
We always see quite a lot of American politics on TV and we sometimes watch C-Span and Washington today, I’ve also been reading about the tea party bunch. I have to say that I think you beat us in the crazy-scary people race!
Have you seen the shenanigans in France? They aren’t happy about the retirement age being put up to 62, but ours is going up to 66. I think they should wave a few Germans at the French, that would soon clear the streets!
Ditto what Stefanie said. I also live in the midwest where it is a very Red state (very conservative). I should be used to it, but I dread elections every time around. I keep thinking it’s got to get better, it’s got to get better, but no matter how much I say it, I don’t believe myself.
Danielle,
I know what you mean about election time. I always use my vote, even in local elections but I’ve only ever voted one person in, a local Liberal-Democrat councillor. Fife is red hot Labour country and I mean RED with some communist councillors, but still they aren’t interested in doing the best for the people. Unemployment has always been high here but they don’t care because politicians fear that working people will be better off and then they tend not to vote for Labour in the future. I’ve come to the conclusion that those at the top think they can control people better if they are poor and miserable. Red or blue – they ‘re only interested in themselves. I keep telling myself – Don’t let the buggers get you down!
