I’m not supposed to be buying books or even borrowing any from the libray at the moment, due to the vast amount of unread volumes in my house, but what are you supposed to do when you want to read something in particular. I had to put in a request for a Linda Gillard book as I want to see what her books are like. When I went to pick up the book I couldn’t stop myself from going in and having a wee bit of a browse the upshot of which is I came home with:
Emotional Geology by Linda Gillard
Wait for Me by Deborah Devonshire
Mary and The Wrongs of Woman by Mary Wollstonecraft
Crime by Ferdinand von Schirach
All authors who are new to me, so it’ll be interesting to see what they’re like!
I do hope you’ll enjoy EMOTIONAL GEOLOGY but I’m sure you’ll enjoy WAIT FOR ME. It’s terrific fun.
Linda Gillard,
I saw your comment to me on Jo’s The Book Jotter. I’m a bit of a Luddite and don’t much like the idea of e-books but I suppose it would solve the problem of having so many books. I’m looking forward to reading Emotional Geology but I’m going to read Wait for Me first as I’ve just finished reading Nancy’s The Blessing, I’m on a Mitford kick at the moment. Thanks for dropping by.
You will love Emotional Geology. (I hope anyway!) It has so many layers to it that I know you will appreciate parts of it. I have just downloaded Linda’s latest book and hope to spend an enjoyable weekend devouring it!
A good haul from the library, I have not read any Mitford perhaps I need to try them out.
Jo,
I’m looking forward to it. I can see that I’ll end up downloading books too. At least I won’t have to find more space for ‘real’ books.
The Pursuit of Love is the best one I think. The only other Nancy Mitford book I have is her bio. of Madame de Pompadour which is supposed to be really good. I’m only at page 20 of Wait for Me but I’m enjoying it already.
