One of my favourite sites is Astronomy Picture of the Day, isn’t this one a beauty? It’s a Meteor and Moonbow over Wallaman Falls, Australia.
But I love this astronomy picture quilt too, by quilter and astronomy enthusiast Judy W. Ross. It’s definitely different and there’s such a lot of work involved in it, it really makes me want to get stuck into quilting.
What a great website! I need to start following right away.
And the quilt is amazing. I wonder how many hours it took to complete?
Anbolyn,
It is a great site, I’m not at all scientific and don’t know much about astronomy but the photos are so lovely.
It must have taken a lot of hours to make the quilt. I was thinking that I could try to do something like that one square at a time whilst watching the TV but I’m sure it would take me years. I had to correct that from ‘tears’ but that was probably right too!
Both the photos are so lovely!
We just had our annual international quilt festival a couple of weeks ago – lots of quilters come from Japan every year. Some of the art quilts are just stunning.
Lisa,
I’d love to see your quilt festival. Japanese fabric is so beautiful too, I can’t imagine what their quilters do with it. I’ll have to look them up.
Our Houston one is always in October, after the summer weather breaks a bit, and we usually get a good number of UK visitors. You’d have your own personal tour guide đŸ™‚
Lisa,
Thanks for the offer of being a tour guide, if we had that ‘beam me up Scotty’ gadget now and I could be there in a trice then I would go, but I don’t fancy the travelling at all. I was almost talked in to going to New York when a chap waxed lyrical about all the art deco buildings there but then I thought about having to get a visa and and airports and thought better of it! I like armchair travelling.
Here we go again: this is a site I visit daily, too! Did you see this quilt on the site the other day?

We should queue the spooky music (doo-doo-doodo) I did see that quilt too, in fact I have that very brown fabric in my stash pile. I must get around to doing something with it.
You, Evee and Margaret might enjoy http://www.robertarood.wordpress.com latest entry about Alexander McCall Smith’s new book and 2 videos about Scotland. She’s from Baltimore but quite the Anglophile. Goes to the UK as often as possible. Good pictures of villages, concerts, historical sites, etc. Enjoy.
Lorraine,
What a lovely blog she has, thanks for the info. I’m sure it’ll become a favourite place for me to visit.
Roberta Rood was the first book blog I had ever read, and I had no idea what blogs were!! I also thought the name was Robert Arood. Goodness, did she start something with me, as you did with my new Scottish interests.
Lorraine,
Thanks for pointing me in her direction. I’ll get around to adding her to my sidebar soon. You should start your own blog!
