Exhausting Weekend

It has been one of those weeks when I’ve been run off my feet, hence the lack of blogposts this weekend. We were over in that west which I pine for – Glasgow/Dumbarton/Helensburgh and then on to Bathgate for a wedding, the first wedding I’ve been to in donkey’s years. We actually danced the Gay Gordons which is a traditional Scottish dance which seems to heave been developed by the Gordon Highlanders during the First World War. If you want to know what the dance looks like have a look at the You Tube video below of another wedding. The one I was at was far more packed with people so mayhem inevitably ensued – as well as exhaustion after a full five minutes of it.

Of course later this week I’m going to Edinburgh airport to pick up my blog pal Peggy from the US. So Peggy Ann’s Post will be coming from Scotland for the next 4 weeks or so. We’re all excited as you can imagine, I just hope the weather is kind to us while she’s here.

I’m off to do some housework!

  1. Very excited to hear that Peggy is arriving in Scotland, and eager to hear about your adventures. No matter what the weather, I know you will have a great time.

    • tracybham,
It’s certainly going to be a very different experience for Peggy and I’m looking forward to showing her some different scenery – and castles of course.

  2. I tried valiantly to keep up at the ceilidh for my stepdaughter’s wedding. Even carried a pair of flats in my evening bag for the occasion. Wore myself out!

    • Pearl,
Over the years I’ve known a couple of elderly ladies who dropped down dead whilst dancing at weddings – mind you it’s quite a good way to go, but it doesn’t half spoil the atmosphere!
