I had intended doing a ‘Reasons to be Cheerful’ post on this particular day – the 20th of January 2017 – but in all honesty it was turning out to be quite a slim post. So I decided that in these interesting, not to say crazy times we are living in, Monty Python’s Always Look on the Bright Side of Life fitted the bill better.
Fingers crossed!
I have always loved that song – great pick for our, um. interesting times.
Whispering Gums,
Yes, we are living in that ancient Chinese curse – we’ll just have to wait and see how it all goes but I’m not hopeful.
Nor am I hopeful, not at all. Within an hour of being sworn in The Wizard of Oz dismantled the Climate Change pages from our federal website, as well as removing all the LGBT pages on progress in that arena. He is an ugly, ugly man and so many people here loathe him.
Ken said that he watched a few moments of the inauguration parade and all the bleacher seats up and down the parade route were nearly empty.
I love the way the New York Times and other papers have added staff in Washington to cover what’s going to happen. Pulitizer-Prize Winning journalists converging on Washington. It’s war–thank goodness.
Judith,
Jack has dubbed him T Ronald Dump as he is sure that that is what he is going to do on us all. Of course it was on TV – for hours, but I couldn’t bear to watch any of it. Unfortunately I saw a bit of it on the normal news. I still can’t understand why he hasn’t been charged with all the sexual harassment/rape offences and will never understand how any woman could vote for him, we’ve all met the type before and do our best to avoid them. I saw a TV programme about him and they went to Atlantic City where they know more about him than most and so didn’t vote for him. In Scotland we’ve had experience of him and his business dealings, he’s just a bully to ordinary people, it doesn’t bode well.
Excellent! I love the scene from Life of Brian when they are all singing this song!
Stefanie,
Yes, I thought about putting that excerpt on as it’s a hoot but ‘humorously challenged’ people don’t get it, so I thought the rather posh surroundings of the Albert Hall (I think) would do as a substitute
