My garden – in Fife, Scotland

I took these photos of my garden just a few days ago using my phone, it’s fair to say that it’s all a bit ’40 shades of green-ish’.

It’s that awkward time of the year when the spring flowers and tree blossom are over, but the summer blooms haven’t started yet.

The Japanese maple below is colourful though.

The foxgloves have started to flower.

Just a few days after I took these photos the roses started to bloom, but I’ll keep those photos for another post.

  1. Lush and verdant! It looks lovely, Katrina. Our roses are only just coming into flower – several weeks late this year.

  2. Considering how barren your yard was when you moved there, you’ve worked miracles! Besides, I love all the shades of green.

    • Stefanie,
Thanks, after such a long winter green is very welcome, but the roses are now very welcome.

  3. What a splendid sanctuary during Covid- a secret garden to reflect, soothe the spirit and have some quiet reading time.

    • Heather-Sophia,
I was so glad to have a lovely garden when we had the strict lockdowns, it makes life so much more pleasant, I can’t imagine how awful it must have been for people living in flats with no outdoor space to sit in – or dig in.

  4. This reflects a lot of work, I can tell. I also have a Japanese Maple that is very pretty but it slightly worries me that a professional should be pruning it. It has grown enormously in the 11 years I have lived in my house and whacks my head when I mow the lawn.

    • Constance,
It doesn’t really seem like work when you enjoy it though. I am terrible at pruning things, even although I know it encourages healthy bushy growth I hate the feeling of cutting into plants as it seems cruel to me – crazy – I know! I have a couple of Japanese Maples that are now taller than me but the others are supposed to stay quite small.
