Maya Angelou – Robert Burns

I suspect that people outside of the UK may not be able to see the You Tube programme below about Maya Angelou and her pilgrimage to Scotland to discover more about Robert Burns, but I hope that they can. It’s very interesting.

  1. I never knew anything about Maya Angelou’s personal story. I will have to find this film online somewhere.

Isn’t it funny to think of a literary luminary going on a literary pilgrimage like the rest of us?

    • Constance,
Did you try clicking where it says Watch on You Tube under where it says video unavailable? I know that that works for some in the US anyway.
I knew nothing about Maya Angelou, but she seems like such a nice woman. I would have loved to be able to ask her if she had struggled with Burns’ poetry at the beginning as most English people and even many Scots find it difficult to understand. I hope you can see the film.
I was flabbergasted, especially as she is/was so obviously a big fan since she was a youngster and she knows it by heart.
