I was very surprised when Cathy at Kittling: Books asked me if I would like to participate in The Scene of the Blog and although I tend to blog all over the house I thought I might as well do it, you never know, it might be of interest to people.

This photo is of my husband’s study where the main computer is but it is usually only put on at night as I prefer to use my dinky wee Netbook during the day. We got a joiner to build in the shelves which house a lot of Jack’s SF books, going back to the 1950s. I must admit that Cathy’s invitation was a good opportunity to tidy the desk up as it’s usually well stacked with ‘stuff’, but Jack claims that he knows exactly where everything is when it’s messy. He usually does too!
When I blog during the day I tend to sit wherever the light is best in the house. I can’t say that I follow the sun because as I’m in Scotland it’s often very grey. So the photo below is a corner of my dining-room and it’s a handy spot to blog in if I want to keep an eye on what’s going on in the kitchen. The books are mainly cookery and craft books.
The next one is a sofa in the living-room and I must admit that I got a bit of a shock when I saw this one because it looks alarmingly red, it isn’t so noticeable in real life, honestly. Mind you there are often more cushions piled up on the sofa and they are all different colours. There’s a bar of chocolate there too as I sometimes (often) have a sneaky bar on the go.
We recently became empty nesters which takes some getting used to. This room used to be part of my eldest boy’s bedroom, it was his computer area and like a lot of the house it has recently been painted magnolia. I squeezed our old drop-end sofa in there and it’s now a hobby room for me which is great as it keeps most of the fabric, wool and general crafting stuff in one place. It also has good light so is perfect for crafting and blogging and it’s quite a cosy neuk, well with the aid of a blanket anyway. As you can see it’s furnished with home-made cushions.
Well – that’s it. I hope you found this wee peek into my home life entertaining!
