When Jack got home from work last Tuesday night he said: there’s a fantastic sky out there – so we shot out with the camera to see what we could capture.
For some reason the sky looked even redder behind the trees, but the shapes of trees on their own are lovely. I’m fairly sure these are cherry trees, they’re the first to lose all of their leaves anyway.
The boating pond again, with the trees on the island on the left hand side. As you can see there are some birds on the pond but as ever they’re too shy to show their heads, they always duck down just as I snap them.
Red sky at night – shepherds’ delight and all that – well it delighted me anyway.

Gorgeous, gorgeous! How wonderful to have a man that would come home and drag you out to see the sky! I’ve always heard that saying with sailor Instead of shepherd of course I was married to a navy man for 15 yrs. too.
Peggy Ann,
As you can imagine – I didn’t take much dragging! The second part of that saying here is: Red sky in the morning – sailors’ warning.
It’s supposed to mean stormy weather at sea I think.
what amazing photos – nature at its best!
Patty,
Thanks, it did look better in real life I think, but I’m quite happy to have a wee reminder of the sky to look back on.
Beautiful! Often hard to capture sunset so well. What kind of camera?
Pearl,
Thanks, it’s a Canon PowerShot A2300 – just a point and click which I wasn’t too happy with to begin with but I seem to be getting the hang of it now.
Stunning! Sunsets are one of my favorite things to photograph, but they never seem to come out very well. These photos are amazing!
Anbolyn,
Thanks, I think sunsets always seem better when we think back to them. I prefer them to dawn – not that I’m up early enough to see many of them!
Even folk down here were talking of a beautiful sunset last Tuesday. I should have seen it in Edinburgh, but I was visiting a friend and missed it!!! Lovely photos! I love seeing the bare trees against a sunset sky.
Evee,
Thanks, I think the whole of Scotland must have been lovely last Tuesday. Now we’re back to grey days and shut curtains by 4.30. Roll on the light nights again!
Thank you for those beautiful pictures. I just returned from NYC (Long Island) with family and you can’t imagine the devastation along the miles long shore. These aren’t a house here, a house there, it’s hundreds of homes. Will write later with info about my book group and books.
Thanks
Lorraine,
I was thinking that you must be busy helping people out. How awful those people must feel, with everything just blown away, I suppose they are thankful just to be alive to begin with, then come the problems!
