The Chelsea Flower Show 2014

It’s that time of the year again already – The Chelsea Flower Show. I haven’t been able to see that much of it live this year, it’s on at such a weird time, 3 o’clock in the afternoon, but I’ve seen the evening shows which are on at 8 o’clock and I’m catching up online with things that I’ve missed.

I’ve not been that enamoured with many of the big show gardens, I like the planting in lots of them but the designs seem to be very similar over the years. I suppose the designers are sticking with what they know has gone down well with the judges in the past.

I particularly dislike that huge white structure in the middle of the M&G Garden, to me it seems out of proportion and not even a nice shape, but I’m probably in a minority.

As always you can vote for your favourite garden. I’m off to scrutinise the courtyard/artisan gardens now as I’ve seen hardly any of them, and they’re really my favourites. They’re on a more realistic scale and always have design elements which can be easily transferred to the average plot.

If you’re interested have a look at who won what here.
