The Edinburgh Book Festival – and more

It’s almost festival time in Edinburgh again, it comes around quicker every year. The Edinburgh Festival is of course made up of various festivals, not just The International Festival, there’s also The Fringe Festival and the Book Festival is one of the newer ones on the scene, but it’s always very popular, click on the links above to see if there’s anything you fancy going to see anything.

The View from Castle Rock is an event from the Festival Fringe and it’s based on two short stories by Alice Munro. I quite fancy seeing this – if I can brave the Edinburgh crowds!

Meanwhile The Power of the Dog by Don Winslow is one of many books that has a good shot of making it to the big screen. I haven’t read anything by the author, have you?

Have you been to see the movie of Ab Fab yet? I’m not sure whether I want to see it or not, having heard mixed reviews of it, but the trailer looks quite funny.

  1. This looks like a massive festival Katrina – with so much to choose from. Our local one at Fowey is tiny in comparison and I couldn’t decide what to choose from their programme. I’d be lost with all the choices available to you in Edinburgh! The View from Castle Rock would be amazing, worth fighting the crowds for I think! Hope you’ll tell us all about whatever you decide to attend.

(Not seen Ab Fab though I did enjoy the tv shows.)

    • Sandra,
There are so many festivals within the Edinburgh Festival and it lasts over a month, so there’s something for everyone I’m sure. A lot of locals move out and rent their homes out for the festival, a combination of getting away from the crowds and making a huge profit!
I loved Ab Fab on TV but quite often they don’t transfer well to the big screen, so I might just wait and see it when it gets on TV.

  2. I’m not much for crowds myself, but if I had a chance to see A View from Castle Rock, I would go! I love the idea of Fringe Festival and Book Festival, and this combines them nicely.

    • JaneGS,
There are umpteen festivals going on there and I always intend to go to something but never get around to it, maybe this year I will.

  3. I was fascinated by A View from Castle Rock, but even so I can’t see myself at the Festival – I’m not comfortable in crowds! And I’ll wait until AB Fab is on TV too – I’m ‘off’ going to the cinema as well.

    • Margaret,
We always seem to be sitting close to the noisy eaters or people who have to make stupid comments throughout the film, very annoying.
