At the beginning of 2022 I signed up on Goodreads to read 100 books within the year, but I actually managed to read 115. I signed up to read 100 books again in 2023. I find it’s a good way of keeping track of my reading, mind you I still jot them down in an old school jotter too, very old!
Anyway, if you’re interested you can have a look back at everything I read over the last year here.
At the moment I’m re-reading Wolf Hall this is a complete indulgence for me, I rarely re-read anything, but I loved that series so much I just had to visit it again. It’s also sort of in memory of Hilary Mantel who died so unexpectedly (for me anyway) last year.
Goodreads says our tastes are 83% similar for the books you both rated!
Not really surprising, right? But did I know you were a Dorothy Dunnett fan? If I hadn’t just made an expensive trip to the UK, I’d be even more tempted to go to Edinburgh in the spring:

Constance,
That does look very interesting, I’ve already been to almost all of the places though, Traquair House was shut when we tried to visit it. I see that they have had similar events in Boston and Philadelphia in the past. You’ve reminded me that I should be getting on with the next Niccolo book instead of re-reading Mantel books, but I am so enjoying them again.
I have never attended a conference but my mother has been to several, including Malta. I probably should have coaxed her to go to this one but I guess because we had just been on an expensive trip to France a year ago she did not consider it.
I did have a wonderful lunch with Lady Dunnett in New York many years ago. She was amazing to be around. I have not read the Niccolo books – I could not get into the first one and need to try again some time.
Constance,
I felt exactly the same about the first Niccolo book but I persevered and ended up enjoying it. Then I read the second one – in 2021 – and haven’t got back to the series since then, although I have all of the books now. I must get into it again. Lucky you to have been in the company of Lady Dunnett!
