A Charles Jencks Landform

Gallery Water Feature

The above photograph is of the land at the front of the Scottish Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh and I think it’s really stylish. You can see more photos of Landform here.

It’s the view which you get if you are standing at the front of the building. We visit the gallery quite often and I have to say that some of the modern art on display is just not to my taste but you can’t like everything. I’m sure we’ve all looked at some modern exhibits in the past and said to ourselves – I can do better than that!

Anyway the view above is right in front of the gallery building so if you turn around this is what you see.

  1. Hi Katrina,

I love the Jencks ‘Landform’, but like yourself, much of the modern art leaves me a little cold and often a bit disappointed.

That’s not to say that I like all classical art either, but I can certainly relate to it much easier. It usually ‘does what it says on the tin’ and saves my embarrassment at having to try and work out just exactly what a few lines or splahes of random colour on a page ‘says’ to me!!

    • Yvonne,

And as for unmade beds! Would I be arrested if I went in and tidied up?

I really don’t like all that religious and classical art of the 17th and 18th century, but it’s apparently worth millions. I’d sell it all and do something useful for the country with the money, anything that would generate decent jobs, which is what is needed!
