Readers Imbibing Peril XV

I’ve come to the end of Readers Imbibing Peril, it’s the first time I’ve taken part and I did enjoy it. I did quite well I think, the only book on my original list that I didn’t read is Shirley Jackson’s Dark Tales. I requested this one from the library and it hasn’t arrived yet, I will read it when/if it does turn up.

The only author who was new to me was Raymond Chandler, I’ve been meaning to get around to reading him for decades, I loved The Big Sleep so I’ll definitely be reading more of his books.

A Better Man by Louise Penny

The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler

The Stone Circle by Elly Griffiths

The Golden Tresses of the Dead by Alan Bradley

Dark Tales by Shirley Jackson

The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes The Martian Menace by Eric Brown

A Step So Grave by Catriona McPherson

Checkmate to Murder by E.C.R. Lorac

The Turning Tide by Catriona McPherson

Cloak of Darkness by Helen MacInnes

  1. You did much better than I did with this! I only read one book from my original list and two others. I must get around to reading The Golden Tresses of the Dead – I’ve read all of the other Flavia books apart from that one.

  2. Katrina, congratulations on your splendid progress and your discussions about the books for this list. I have visited many of your reviews and found them fascinating and, to say the least, pleasant and enjoyable reading, not to mention that they have provided me with inspiration.
I’m hanging on, barely, these days, as you can imagine. But NOT to be maudlin, which I detest, my days have been brightened by my reading.

  3. Very nice list of mysteries. And a lot to read and review in the time frame. I know I missed some of your reviews so I will go check them out. Between the coronavirus cases going up everywhere, and the election and other politics here (as you mentioned), it seems like I don’t get as much done lately.

    • tracybham,
I’m glued to CNN at the moment and there’s no good news. It’s not so bad here but is fairly awful in England, so we just got our visit to England over with in time as we’ve been asked not to go there at the moment in case we spread Covid here.
